Many Types of Apple

Have you ever wondered what the reason for naming the variety of apples in the market? Apples are a single type of fruit that is unique names such as Red Delicious, Granny Smith, or Honeycrisp. For those of you who are curious.


here's the story behind the names of types of apples:

1. Red Delicious

In the past red apple has the name Hawkeye. But after that apple won in a contest organized by the Stark Nursery, apple was named Stark Delicious. Over time, these apple name changed to Red Delicious. The reason? Just as a differentiator because Stark Nursery has another product called Golden Delicious.

2. Fuji

As you may have guessed, Fuji apples got the name because it comes from Japan. Fuji apple itself was born in the 1960s when a number of Japanese researchers crossbreeding American apples, Red Delicious and Ralls Janet.

3. Golden Delicious

Named Golden Delicious apple because it has a golden color. Golden Delicious itself has Mullin's Yellow Seedling name before it was bought by Stark Nurseries. The apple is very popular because it tastes sweet and ideal for baking ingredients.

4. Granny Smith

Apple's unique name is given in honor of Granny Maria Ann Smith. Women from New South Wales, Australia, is an inventor of this fresh green apple. Granny Smith himself fits eaten raw or baked into a pie.

5. Honeycrisp

Researchers from the University of Minnesota is the inventor of the Honeycrisp apple. They crossbreeding Macoun apples with Honeygold in the 1960s. The apple itself is known for its sweet taste like honey . Its texture is very crispy than other apples. Honeycrisp is one kind of apple that is expensive but still sought after for its quality
